I began the Lowndes website in October 1995 and people have been writing to me ever since with comments, requests for research I had no time to do etc. I’d take these emails and post them to the website. All very static and old-web.
So, from now on, no need for email.

Hi, I’m also descended from William Lounds and Sarah Innocent of Mancetter. Re William, I’m wondering if he isn’t the William Lounds baptised in 1766 at Aston Juxta, Birmingham – not that far away – to Thomas and Elizabeth. His younger sister, Mary (baptised 1768) marries there in 1791 (to William Richards) but there’s no more mention of William in the IGI records. which means he could have moved.
I noticed i’ve neglected to mention in my above post that i’m the Melissa decended down from Alfred Lowndes & Fanny Barry. Or that I’m now a Beedle, not a Billings, as my last post which described my Lowndes connection names me…

Ver interested in read Melissa’s update. We seem to be descended down the same line, though I wasn’s sure on her date of Peter Lowndes’ date of birth – 1821?, that would have made him 15 when his son, ALfred was born in 1836. Someone else suggested a birthdate of around 1806, but I’ve not been able to check that yet. That could link us to the tree of William Lowndes, possible brother of Peter. Will was born in 1805 and was the son of a John L, born 1760. As I say, I haven’t checked this through other records yet. My mother was born Unity Barry Lowndes (she always hated that name), daughter of Douglas Brodie L whose parents were Alfred Barry Lowndes (commercial cashier in Eccles) and Mary Brodie, daughter to a family of cotton manufacturers in Manchester. Alfred Barry was one of the 8 children born to Alfred and Fanny Barry.
Would love to find out more about Peter and Margaret L and their ancestors!

I believe i last posted around 2005, under my maiden name of Billings. (that post is now under the archives section).
I’ve thankfully found out more about my Lowndes line since then, as I started off knowing almost nothing, besides the name…
My grandfather,
Clifford Hayward Melville Lowndes, was born Dec.7, 1911 in Toronto, Ontario. He was an only child. He married Edna Bailey.
His father was,
Frederick Kinsman Stanton Lowndes, was born March 20, 1864, in Manchester, Lancashire, England.
He immigrated to Canada in 1906, and married Hannah Hayward. He died fairly early in Toronto, Ontario, in 1918. No other family members emmigrated here with him that i know of.
Frederick’s father was,
Alfred Lowndes, born 1836 in Manchester, Lancashire, Eng.
He married Fanny Catharina Barry.(b. 1839). He was a tailor/woolen draper in Manchester.
They had 8 children. Alfred, Florence, Frederick, Edith, Minnie, John, Walter and Edward.
Alfred died in Aug., 1873.
Alfred’s father
is reputed to have been Peter Lowndes
(b. abt. 1821), England and Margaret “unknown” (b. abt. 1831).
I’ve only made one connection to someone researching any of this line, and that was through Fanny Barry (wife to Alfred Lowndes) Her step-father was a “Kinsman ” (a name that has also been passed down through decendants).
I’ve checked back through your site from time to time, and i’m still glad it exists, i think it’s great to have a “meeting place” besides the busy message boards for Lowndes’s. You give it the “human aspect” that seems to be missing in some other places.

i have looked at your tree we are distantly related through Joseph Loundes Born 1824.
My relative is John Loundes Born 1827 who was Josephs younger brother.
I noticed that on the 1841 cencus neither Joseph or John lived at the same address as their parents.
I contacted Mel Cash earlier last year and she provided me with a wealth of info .
Do you have anything else for William Loundes Baptised in 1760.
